The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Jersey Cattle Society of Kenya was held on 19th March 2026 at Ontulele Jerseys, bringing together key stakeholders committed to advancing the Jersey breed in Kenya.
The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on strategies aimed at promoting the adoption and improvement of the Jersey breed, which is widely recognized for its efficiency in milk production. Participants highlighted the breed’s ability to produce high-quality milk, its low maintenance requirements, and its excellent feed conversion efficiency—qualities that make it a reliable choice for both small-scale and large-scale dairy farmers.
KAGRC reiterated the importance of encouraging farmers to adopt the Jersey breed as a pathway to improved productivity and profitability in dairy farming. The Centre also expressed appreciation to the Jersey Cattle Society of Kenya for its continued collaboration in ensuring the provision of superior Jersey genetics to farmers across the country.
The AGM was attended by various stakeholders across the livestock value chain, including CKL Africa Ltd, Bles Dairies, the Kenya Livestock Breeders Association (KLBA), the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute (KEVEVAPI), Belfast Millers, the Directorate of Veterinary Services Kenya (DVS), Ripple Effect, and the Genetics Advisory Committee (GAC) of KAGRC.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration among industry players in strengthening dairy production through improved genetics and sustainable breeding practices.
