Earlier on 10th March 2026, the Managing Director of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC), Dr. Benadatte Misoi, hosted the Chief Executive Officer of the Meru Central Dairy Cooperative Union, Kenneth Gitonga, at the KAGRC headquarters.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, with key discussions centered on increasing the supply of sexed semen and liquid nitrogen to support dairy farmers. The two leaders also explored opportunities for enhancing capacity building initiatives targeting Artificial Insemination (AI) service providers and dairy farmers across the Mount Kenya region.
The Meru Central Dairy Cooperative Union was recognized as one of KAGRCโs leading customers and a key pillar of Kenyaโs dairy sector, representing over 40,000 farmers within its network. Its role in aggregating and supporting dairy farmers has continued to contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability of the industry.
Through such strategic partnerships, KAGRC reaffirmed its commitment to improving dairy productivity through the provision of superior genetics and essential breeding inputs. The collaboration further underscored the Centreโs dedication to promoting sustainable livelihoods and strengthening the resilience of farmers across the country.
