The Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre, led by Dr. Benadatte Misoi and her team, in partnership with the Kenya Red Cross Society led by Charles Jowi, Head of Region, held a productive meeting with the County Commissioner of Kajiado County, Michael Yator, alongside his team and representatives from the National Drought Management Authority. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and aligning efforts to support livestock productivity and climate-resilient breeding initiatives in the county.
During the engagement, KAGRC and KRCS presented the Cattle Breed Improvement Programme and outlined its key objectives and expected outcomes. These included the synchronization and insemination of 4,000 cows, improved reproductive performance and conception rates, and the development of a comprehensive technical and evaluation report to guide future interventions. All parties expressed strong commitment and optimism towards a successful collaboration and the effective implementation of the programme.
