7th October 2025, Kitui โ The Chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC), Hon. Dr. Nuh Nassir Abdi, joined the Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, and the Chairperson of the Kenya Livestock Promotion and Marketing Services (KLP&MS), Hon. Mohamed Elmi, at the Kitui Agricultural Institute for the Capacity Building and Market Linkage Forum for Ward-Based Meat Goat and Indigenous Chicken Cooperatives.
The forum brought together livestock farmers, cooperative leaders, and development partners from across Kitui County to explore innovative ways of making livestock farming more profitable, sustainable, and market-oriented. Discussions centered on value addition, improved breeding practices, cooperative management, and the creation of efficient market linkages to enhance rural livelihoods.
In his remarks, Dr. Nuh Nassir reaffirmed KAGRCโs commitment to supporting livestock farmers through capacity building, access to superior genetics, and strategic partnerships that drive growth and self-sufficiency within the livestock sector.
The engagement underscored the governmentโs ongoing efforts to empower farmers in arid and semi-arid regions by promoting genetic improvement, commercialization, and innovation within Kenyaโs livestock value chains.
KAGRC undertakes testing of Liquid Nitrogen containers for interested clients on request to determine their efficiency.
