29th September – 5th October 2025, Nairobi — The Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC) joined government agencies and stakeholders at the Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF), held at the Jamhuri Show Grounds. The event was officially opened by H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, and ran under the theme “Agriculture Meets Trade.” Representing KAGRC at the opening ceremony were Board Director, Mr. George Oballa, Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Allan Azegele, and Managing Director, Dr. Benadatte J. Misoi, who joined other national leaders and industry players in highlighting innovations driving Kenya’s agricultural transformation. KAGRC’s participation at this year’s Trade Fair reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Kenya’s livestock sector through quality breeding services, semen production, and advanced assisted reproductive technologies. The Centre continues to play a central role in empowering farmers, enhancing livestock productivity, and contributing to the country’s food and nutrition security. During the event, the Managing Director, Dr. Benadatte Misoi, hosted key dignitaries including Dr. Allan Azegele, Mr. Teuri Van Helden, Chairman of the Livestock Sub-Committee, and Mr. Julius Mutea, Chairman of the Genetic Advisory Committee. The discussions underscored KAGRC’s pivotal role in strengthening livestock value chains through access to superior genetics and improved breeding programs. Dr. Misoi elaborated on the importance of KAGRC’s presence at the show, emphasizing that high-quality genetics form the foundation of improved livestock productivity, leading to enhanced farmer incomes and greater competitiveness within agricultural trade. Visitors to the KAGRC stand had the opportunity to learn more about livestock breeds, artificial insemination services, and the Centre’s contribution to genetic improvement across the region.
