In a significant move to improve livestock development in Marsabit County, Governor Hon. Mohamud Ali visited the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC) headquarters in Lower Kabete on 28thย May 2025 to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at enhancing the Countyโs livestock sector.ย During the visit, Governor Hon. Mohamud Ali engaged with the Managing Director-KAGRC; Dr. Benadatte Misoi to discuss potential partnerships focused on improving livestock breeding programs.
KAGRC, renowned for its advanced animal breeding technologies, offers a wealth of expertise thatย will go a long way to benefit Marsabitโs pastoral communities.ย By integrating KAGRCโs Artificial Insemination (AI) resources and other livestock improvement interventions, the County anticipates advancements in livestock health, productivity, and overall economic growth.ย Governor Hon. Mohamud Ali reiterated that his administration is committed to transform the livestock sector, emphasizing its pivotal role in the Countyโs economy. The visit marks the beginning of a promising partnership between Marsabit County and KAGRC.ย Both parties are optimistic that this collaboration will introduce climate resilient breeds to the region, thereby improving livestock productivity, livelihoods of countyโs pastoral communities while contributing to the broader agricultural development goals.
